Housing Rights is one of 110 charitable organisations and community groups announced to receive funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
The money will fund the ‘Housing Rights for Young People’ service. This will enable us to expand and continue the service for the next four years.
The service will provide advice, advocacy, mediation and training for young people to help improve and sustain their housing situation. It will give young people the skills and knowledge they need for the future, improve their relationships within the community, and improve their health and wellbeing.
As well as our core areas of advice and advocacy, we’ll be developing a reference group to allow young people with lived experience to feed into the delivery of our services.
Young people will also be at the forefront of helping us to develop a training peer model. This will give them access to information so they know their rights, and where to look for help. They will then in turn be able to help their peers who might have housing problems. It’s also hoped this will improve their confidence and employability skills.
The service will also aim to identify work placements for young people at Housing Rights.
