Housing Rights is Northern Ireland’s leading independent provider of specialist housing advice. For almost 60 years we have been helping people to find and keep a home. We believe that prevention is better than the cure. Our work seeks to ensure individuals and families living in NI do not reach this point of crisis.
Housing Rights welcome this opportunity to respond to the Consultation on Department for Communities Budget 2023-24 allocations.
Housing Rights has deep concerns that proposed budget cuts will have a devastating impact and further entrench the inequalities faced by many experiencing poor housing and homelessness in a ever-deepening cost of living crisis.
The proposals if implemented would undermine the NI Executive’s and DfC’s policy direction and undercut their strategic priorities to promote wellbeing. They would also increase need while weakening support and damage the NIHE’S Homelessness Strategy.
