Press release: 82% of private renters in NI face shortfall between their housing benefit and cost of rent

New figures obtained by Housing Rights from the Department for Communities show that 82% of all private renters in receipt of Local Housing Allowance in Northern Ireland face a shortfall between their housing benefit and the cost of their rent.

Report identifies housing cost as key contributor to cost of living crisis in Northern Ireland

Last week The Centre for Progressive Policy (CPP) published its report ‘The cost of living crisis across the devolved nations: How rising costs are hitting different places across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. 

Housing Rights welcome this report which highlights the scale of the crisis in Northern Ireland, casting a much-needed light on the struggles of people coping with the financial pressures of what is a generational cost of living crisis.

Experts by experience - involving people with housing and homelessness problems

We recently hosted an event bringing together experts by experience (people who have experienced housing problems or homelessness) with service providers, politicians and other key decision makers. Our goal was to talk about how we can involve experts by experience in the decisions that affect them.
